Description
Although the ‘official’ number of Australian Army personnel who embarked to Greece in 1941 is given at 17,125, some seven years of research has confirmed well over 18,000 names. Sadly, many Australians do not even know their relatives or friends were actually Anzacs, the 2nd Anzacs.
The 2nd ANZAC (Corps) was formed on 12th April 1941 near Brallos Pass in mainland Greece as the German invaders pressed in upon the defenders.
The main aim of Dust & Shadows is to provide instant confirmation of an individual’s service in Greece and Crete in 1941. Hopefully then people will realise the importance of telling the story of the service and sacrifice of the 2nd Anzacs. Perhaps the understanding that ‘A story told becomes a life lived’ will provide a renewed interest in finding out more.
Dust & Shadows sets out the first ever nominal roll for the Greek and Cretan campaigns. The roll is placed within a framework of of untold stories, images and diary entries. This allows the reader to follow the campaign.
This is the ultimate resource for the Anzacs of the 2nd AIF.
